The US Africa summit organized by US President Obama is an opportunity that no African President wanted to miss for the supposed interest of their nations. It is an opportunity for African leaders for the first time in history to be at the center of focus not for any civil unrest, disease epidemics, bloody military takeover or political ridicule, but rather, the vast economic opportunities the continent has presented.

The leaders of the United States, Europe, Russia and China have all recognized the potential opportunities the New Africa has presented and are auditioning for a share of the new frontier’s untapped wealth. This is the kind of summit that created the ‘Marshal plan’ that rebuilt Europe after World War II, the kind of summit that led to the NATO alliance, the creation of the G8 economic powers, the European Union and the ASIA Pacific Economic Corporation (APEC) – all regional economic power alliances with incontestable economic and political influence in the world. African leaders showed up in Washington to share this piece of history and to maximize their relationships and investment opportunities by interacting with business leaders, young entrepreneurs and corporations to lure their interest towards their respective countries.
