Dear Colleagues,

Over the past year we have been working to promote the study of African leadership in the academy. Considering the fact that leadership is the single biggest problem Africa faces, there is a need for more Africanist scholars to focus on understanding Africa's leadership cultures, challenges and crises. In that regard, I am happy to inform all colleagues that we have two edited volumes on African leadership scheduled to come out from Palgrave Macmillan in December 2014. The volumes, Leadership in Colonial Africa: Disruption of Traditional Frameworks and Patterns and Leadership in Post-Colonial Africa: Trends Transformed by Independence, are being used by Palgrave Macmillan to launch a new Palgrave Studies in African Leadership series. Our own Hassoum Ceesay has a very interesting chapter on chiefs in colonial Gambia in Leadership in Colonial Africa. Attached to this email are the covers for the two books and a flyer on the series, including an invitation to submit proposals on African leadership. Thanks all.

Warm regards,
Baba
