CALL FOR GLOBAL WEEK OF ACTION, OCTOBER 11TH -18TH, 2014 #BRINGBACKOURGIRLS NOW and ALIVE!!!!

Share

October 14, 2014 makes it exactly six (6) months since 276 girls were abducted by the Boko Haram sect from their school - Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, Nigeria.  The Boko Haram Sect  leader claimed responsibility for the mass kidnappings in a video where he informed the world that he plans to sell the girls into slavery. Till date, not one girl has been rescued, save for 57 girls who escaped on their own, while 219 girls still remain in captivity.

As the United Nations marks the International Day of the Girl Child on 11th October, we, the #BringBackOurGirls movement and the families of the abducted girls, are calling for a Global Week of  Action from 11th to 18th October 2014, to mobilize everyone around the world to demand for the immediate rescue of our Chibok girls and end this humanitarian tragedy.

It is undeniably apt that this year's theme for United Nations International Day of the Girl Child:Empowering Adolescent Girls: Ending The Circle of Violence, coincides with this period when we all are still agitating for the immediate release of our innocent Chibok girls who are victims of the violence being perpetrated by the Boko Haram sect in Nigeria. These are adolescent girls who, against all odds, sought education in order to be empowered in their bid to become responsible leaders of the society. Our world must not forget them.

Well said Comrades. Congrats Professor Saine and well deserved.

Congratulations indeed Dr. Baba. Few of Gambian scholars like you and Dr. Saine embrace the struggle and we appreciate that.

Warm congratulations to Dr. Saine! This is well-deserved award indeed and we pray that he continues his scholarly productivity and mentorship of some of us junior scholars.

A Gambian based in the US, Professor Abdoulaye Saine, the leader of CORDEG, a non-profit organisation registered in the state of Ohio, representing almost all Gambian civil society organisations, was awarded the distinguished scholar award by the the University of Miami, with five other academics.
The award, which shows the outstanding example, displays the reputations of Diaspora Gambian academics. Dr. Saine was one of the architect of STDG, Save The Gambia Democratic Organisation, the Gambian civil society organisation that was partly responsible for the coalition of the opposition parties, NADD, in 2006.

By the way they suggest calling them purple penguins or tiger cobs.

These people probably need to be ship to an emergency ward for a mental check up.

Boys and girls or purple penguins or tiger cobs - which are offensive/discriminatory?

Educators suggest to teachers to not call kids boys or girls because that could be discriminatory to transgender kids.

Ok! Got!

Why not call boys and girls what they are and call the others what they are? Seriously - calling me Burama would be offensive/discriminatory to Lamin? America gone wild! We're loose our mind and polluting many along.

Who said differences is discriminatory  - black or white, tall or short, America or Europe, literate or illiterate, run or work, sleep or awake, etc.

This is enough!

Our kids are not send to public schools for sex education - teach them Math, Science and English and we will do the rest at home.

I and many know sex years ago without formally been  taught - please do not over play your role. Equally all living beings know their sexual/reproductive functions without a formal intervention including plants. It's a function of nature/our biology. You don't wake up in the morning to tell your heart to start pumping or stop. You don't tell the brain to shot off for sleep - all you do is sit or lye down somewhere comfy.
