Free people can make choices independent choices. They may not be right in all choices at all times - but that's their choice. Goodness, periodically have chance to make changes where they feel the earlier choice(s) were wrong.

Democrats or Republicans - who were right? The voters say - Republicans.

What a turn around - just few  years ago it seems the Republican  party Is dead - changing demography, end of era of big government, rising seas, wars are behind us, etc. Not so fast! About 2 or 6 years later it seems they made a u-turn or at least not sure sure if the hope and change mantra is the way to go.

Let's see what the Rs do with their new found power - another judgment day is in about 2 years.

Hope all sides allow democracy to work squarely. Distortion may give short term personal political gains but distorts the long term future of a people. I hope Rs restore long observed Senate rules to allow deliberative challenges from the minority unlike what Democrats/Harry Reid did when the going got tuff.

We will also watch if Obama administration uses  the institutions rather than use 'pen and phone'. If democracy fail in America it will fail everywhere across the world.

We may or may not like the outcomes at times - but we can take comfort that the system works at an appreciable degree in U.S. Hence it can work anywhere including Gambia if we could build the capacities of the people.

Congratulations America!
