Obituary: The Late Seydou Ba

I was alerted to the death of Mr. Seydou Ba, a Senegalese national, whom I happen to know from early 2000. Seydou was my neighbor in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Seydou was in his mid-forties. According the news report (Source: http://www.wbaltv.com/news/mans-body-discovered-monday-in-car-in-millersville/29772530), Seydou was found in his car and pronounced death on the spot in the early hours of Monday November 17th 2014.

 

Seydou studied in Russia to the level of graduate studies, after which he moved with his Russian wife to Maryland. He continued studying while in the Washington DC area. He was so eager for education.

 

Seydou was such a humorous person, shared his rides, and always willing to share humorous moments. Upon seeing this video clip from WBALTV, Seydou's one time happy and kind memories, his face, and overall spirit struck me hard. Seydou was largely defined by generous nature and the lasting smile he carried on his face, a man truly free in his heart and spoke openly in sociable language. I was left speechless for a minute, owing to the terrible way he is lost. For one thing I can say, a kind spirited soul like Seydou does not deserve death in such a brutal nature. As investigations continue to find his killers, I hope the perpetuators will be apprehended and brought to justice.

 

An immigrant’s life remains a life of struggle. Seydou is a typical example of a determined young man who left the beautiful shores of Africa for greener pastures as in education and employment. Seydou got the education and eloquence. He was a star in his areas of studies. His education, specialty and experience could have been better utilized in the African continent. Blame it to under development and lack of a work force to support its citizens. That is all the more reasons why African leaders must move fast from dictatorship to developing the nation, so educated young men and women can have places to work, live in peace and contribute their quotas to nation’s development.

 

I wanted to share his memories with you all, to solicit your prayers, for his soul to eternally rest. May the Almighty God, owner of majesty and honor, give Seydou the best of receptions with high salutes from the ever obedient angels. Seydou will be greatly missed and rest in peace till we meet again.
