Who's Wall Street? What do they and businesses do?

The sole purpose of a business is to make profit for shareholders. If they do this illegally they go to jail - Ken Lay and Shillings are good examples. Outsiders may think businesses are for job creation and/or some charitible function - the answer is no. Those are byproducts of a business investment and good. The primary - is profit, period!

Eg: Politicians can engage in what would amount to insider trading for me, you and businesses - and our response is 'oh that's politics'.

An old saying 'a people get the leaders they deserve'. This is true even for businesses.

Charles Schumer flipping 180 degrees his argument on ACA within 3/4 years - is simply dishonesty. I will be out of job with one substantiated against me - no 2nd chance. Yet we sit out to condone such from our leaders, even in America - oh is politics. I don't know if we are the problem or the average politician or both.

Should it be about say or do anything to get re-elected? A business CEO will be fired with turning profits.

Same to you!

That was my 2nd point as an assumption.

It shouldn't be that way - politicians changing positions not because of new developments and/changing circumstances but because politics is changing.

Sad! Really sad! A profession that's supposed to guide us to the dreamland turned ......thieves, lairs, killers, etc. So long they stay in power.

More sad! We seem to accept that's ok. I bet what they do from how they invest to how they earn wealth to how they do there job - if I do any of those I will likely be in jail.

Amazing!

Happy thanksgiving Burama. Hope you are not overlooking the politics of the New York Senator... my observation: Charles Schumer was for the public option during the debate. Remember also he is hearing a lot from Wall Street and he has to protect the biggest economic power house in his District... There is also likely going to be some adjustments made to the ACA during the new congress and Mr. Schumer is laying down the ground work for that debate... Got to understand the dynamics of politics. It shouldn't be surprising to see politicians changing position giving the situation. Politics is not a religion it is as fluid as you can imagine...

Did you see/hear him talk about ACA early in the week? I mean Charles Schumer - senior Democrat Senator from New York. Very relieving on its face but it could be a political ploy.

He said Democrats misunderstood their mandate. It was about the economy and jobs jobs jobs. Instead they waisted energy on health care when 85% are covered through employers or others. Most of those are happy with what they have. That the law was to cover 9 million - yes significant number; buy should we disrupt everyone's to help the 9 million? These were his words - paraphrased though.

2-things, both confirm my distrust of a typical politician.

1st: If these are Schumer's sincere opinion - why didn't he listened to opposing views at the time or with due diligent  thoroughly review the work of supporting consultants? These are exact same arguments the opposition has been making all through that legislative process. In fact after they loss the MA Senate seat to Scot Brown - Senate leader has employed a procedural maneuver to get the bill through. They argued the opposition are racist, hate women, don't care the 'little people'. What has changed Schumer? If someone in Schumer position can flip position in such a short spread - that's very telling.

2nd: Or could it be Obama is politically a done deal and politics as usual continues - he's ready to tow another line. Likely Hillary! One way to start that is to begin to create a distance portraying better understanding of the needed of the people from his own wrings. Smart, if it works. If there is any lesson from Gruber tapes/videos - why should we believe any politicians and their frequently referenced technocrats.

We've made politics a profession of 'anything goes'. It's shouldn't be - a very important profession that touches all.
