“Police said witnesses and evidence helped lead them to Gunter. Detectives
found him Thursday and said he admitted during an interview to shooting the
victim” (Wbaltv, Culled from the web, 11/22/2014).
Here are
some interesting developments. One Shupelle Gunter, Baltimore, has been
apprehended in the murder of Seydou Ba, a Senegalese national, Mbaltv reported.
Killers and
brutes have no shame. While they are doing evil, they forget that their foot
tracks are traceable. I think it is rightly said, "You can run but you
can't hide." Most of the time, their foot prints are right there, clearly
visible, especially with today's technological advent. In the case of one
Shupelle Gunter, suspect to the murder, he ran and couldn’t hide. It is
cowardice.
I am not
saying that such criminals are not capable of thinking and doing evil but they
can't help that they will be apprehended and tried.
Their lack
of a belief system as in God, lack of human feeling, lack of respect for a
human soul, added to drugs usage, gives them that killing pride in their hearts
and minds, a dangerous instinct, without caring whatsoever the person they are
eliminating and reparations of their hate actions. They walk on earth like
pacing lions ready to pounce on the next victim. Worshipping one’s desires and
the material world is scary. The societal moral attitudes needs correction and
such dangerous minds need rehabilitation to be better citizens and sociable
human beings. Their minds are left loose and empty. Shupelle killed Seydou but he should have
known better and now here he is....behind bars probably the rest of his life,
and that is only if he is lucky, otherwise if in certain states, he can be put
to the death penalty.
Again, while
we all mourn and pray for the deceased, it is just good to see justice and a
closure to the case. With the noted developments so far, I can see justice
being served with hindrance. I think the motive of killing is clear; it is a
targeted killing, where the suspect lured Seydou. It is premeditated and
calculated murder. From it the killer's intention becomes clear. While the
process of justice would be seen to be done, it is again the closure of the
whole case that is important. It offers healing as well as a way to move on to
Seydou’s family and friends.
I think the
authorities did a great job and to that I am personally appreciative.

Some developments at least. Sources close to the family noted that one of the major suspects in Seydou's death has been arrested and currently helping the police with investigations. Other suspects whom the first suspect mentions are said to be at large.
Meanwhile, the victim's body will be released to the family and arrangements are in progress for the body to be taken back to Senegal.
It is good to see justice and a closure to something as sad as this one -- homicide.

Thanks Mawdo Baba et al.
Seydou's family are in appreciation. Seydou's sister in Gaithersburg (Rogieya) did get in touch with me, and said, "Thank you so much. Seydou is in a better place. At least I know where he is. He needed to rest."
With these words in mind, I am recharging my energy, and I am entrusting his affairs in Allah.

I was
alerted to the death of Mr. Seydou Ba, a Senegalese national, whom I happen to
know from early 2000. Seydou was my neighbor in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Seydou
was in his mid-forties. According the news report (Source:

Seydou was found in his car and pronounced death on the spot in the early hours
of Monday November 17th 2014.
Seydou
studied in Russia to the level of graduate studies, after which he moved with
his Russian wife to Maryland. He continued studying while in the Washington DC
area. He was so eager for education.
Seydou was
such a humorous person, shared his rides, and always willing to share humorous
moments. Upon seeing this video clip from WBALTV, Seydou's one time happy and
kind memories, his face, and overall spirit struck me hard. Seydou was largely
defined by generous nature and the lasting smile he carried on his face, a man
truly free in his heart and spoke openly in sociable language. I was left
speechless for a minute, owing to the terrible way he is lost. For one thing I
can say, a kind spirited soul like Seydou does not deserve death in such a
brutal nature. As investigations continue to find his killers, I hope the perpetuators
will be apprehended and brought to justice.
An immigrant’s
life remains a life of struggle. Seydou is a typical example of a determined
young man who left the beautiful shores of Africa for greener pastures as in
education and employment. Seydou got the education and eloquence. He was a star
in his areas of studies. His education, specialty and experience could have
been better utilized in the African continent. Blame it to under development
and lack of a work force to support its citizens. That is all the more reasons
why African leaders must move fast from dictatorship to developing the nation,
so educated young men and women can have places to work, live in peace and contribute
their quotas to nation’s development.
I wanted to
share his memories with you all, to solicit your prayers, for his soul to
eternally rest. May the Almighty God, owner of majesty and honor, give Seydou
the best of receptions with high salutes from the ever obedient angels. Seydou
will be greatly missed and rest in peace till we meet again.
