A reader and contributor to Gainako has an interesting perspective on Dr. Jallow's great article titled "Redefining Africa" . Dr. Samuel Artley looked at Africa's status from a different angle. He is with the opinion that Africa's design is flawed and may have been intentionally made so to ensure that African states fail or are only able to achieve minimal temporal success. He argued that only African Unity and redesign of the system can make Africa successful..

I find this position very interesting and make me look beyond Africa on how colonial powers designed many other nations or continents they colonized. Were these designs intentional to create a permanent division and tension among regional states example, Asia pacific; Japan, Korea, Vietnam, China etc or Latin America...interesting... read the full article at:

Questions that comes to mind: Isn't Africa still surely responsible for discovering that in fact its design is flawed and should do something to fix the problem or find a solution to make progress despite the flawed design or has the damage been permanently made and cannot be revised?

Note that Dr. Jallow's article in fact did touch on how the Colonialists partitioned Africa into small states thus creating some of the problems Dr Artley highlighted..
