A draft webpage (under construction) is online at movementfordemocraticgambia.org.

Please take a look an let us know what you think/feel to improve it - material, color, layout, etc. We've 30 days of unlimited modification. The first draft is based on what was given to the developer......using his skill in custom web construction.

More importantly we believed our struggle will fare well if we elevate the argument and discourse above party politics to our very founding creeds - (I)ndependence (R)epublic (D)emocracy. Attaining the very definition of these words make all of us better regardless of who's party is in party or not

To take such a fight to everywhere in Gambia - we would need to organize/mobilize - national democracy organization; we would need a program - a democratization agenda; we would need to advocate/influence/persuade on our cause for the necessary political leverage and we would need to raise enough funds to sustain the battle. All of these require a serious work and let's challenge ourselves to begin that task. No body will do this for us and simply complaining will not cut it either. Remember Gambia is not a democracy as is therefore a mere opinion of few doesn't really matter to those in power. On the other side because there is no open civil war the outer world would be contented as it. Therefore is left to us to make our case and sell it everywhere.

The outcome is dictatorship thrown out on our terms. Back by appropriate capacity building we can ensure sustainable 'functioning institutional democracy'.

Whether that will happen during our life time or not is not really important - let's start and other our kids/grand kids can finish. Steve Biko wasn't around when Mandela became President; Yasser Arafat is gone before Independent Sate of Palestine realized but now US president's dare say 2-state solution - before to say so in US was a political suicide.

Goodness these doesn't require anyone to abolish your party or group - simply fighting together as people of a nation on what's common. Imagine had we fought for just election reform with NAD (forget about the last D for now. Probably Yahya wouldn't charge parties D1m to register for elections. How about if in addition we insist on other democratic agendas......

This is our task! This is your task regardless of political affiliation......

Join the true struggle.

Enjoy Ramadan.
