AQUINNAH, Mass., July 21 —  The body of John F.Kennedy Jr. and a major portion of his airplane has been found in about 100 feet of water some
seven miles off Martha’s Vineyard, sources told NBC News on Wednesday. There was no immediate word whether the bodies of Kennedy’s wife or sister-in-law also had been found.

THE DISCOVERY was made Tuesday night by a remote diving vehicle equipped with a robotic camera, sources told the Associated Press.
The wreckage — the crumpled fuselage and cabin of the Piper Saratoga — “is pretty much intact,” sources told NBC News, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The USS Grasp was positioned above the discovery and was expected to try to raise the wreckage later in the day.
