Dear Sir, Allow me to step in since I am not quite sure I understand such calculations ! In fact, there is no pound missing at all. On one side, we have the landlord which has cashed 25pounds (30 pounds less 5 pounds). On the other, we have the three cowboys who paid £9 each, that is 27 pounds together. Which means that they have actually paid 2 pounds extra, which are the very 2 pounds that end up into the boy's pocket....This was quite tricky though, but it all makes sense if one realises that the total should actually be £25, and not £30 anymore. Remember they paid $25.00 and not $24.00 which would have made it $8.00 each +$1=$9.00. Instead they all paid $9.33. Multiply that by 3=$27.99, and add that to the $2.00 will give you $29.99. They are missing only a penny and not a dollar. I enjoyed it though.
