Abdal Hakim Murad (April 1999) The Prophet said that women totally dominate men of intellect and possessors of hearts. Jaajef wa G-L I came across this very interesting article about Islam and Gender, something I am researching (on a personal basis) as may have been noticed by some of my recent postings. I have become aware that the issue of Islam and gender is a much more complex and rich issue than might at first be assumed, especially by those who have the belief (quite commonly held) that Islam is anti-women. A brief outline of the authour is as follows: Abdal-Hakim Murad, born 1960, London. Educated Cambridge University (MA Arabic), and al-Azhar. Translator of al-Bayhaqi's 77 Branches of Faith. Editor of M. Z. Siddiqi's Hadith Literature (Islamic Texts Society, 1993). Trustee and Secretary of The Muslim Academic Trust. Director, The Anglo-Muslim Fellowship for Eastern Europe. Unfortunately I am not able (because of it's length) send the article in the body of the e-mail, so it is presented as an attachment, alternatively it can be read on: http://ds.dial.pipex.com/masud/ISLAM/ahm/gender.htm If you can't read the attachment and really want me to send it as an e-mail, let me know so I can post it in parts....
