I think one thing that need to be put into perspective here is how much
infant mortality is reported. Gambia is one of the few countries in the sub
region with a very good primary health care system and does not report a lot
of the infant mortality. I am sure if the percentage of population that even
gets prenatal care is taken in to consideration, our good standing might drop.
Of course there are some good things that goes on in the Gambia just as you
pointed out, but the Government only reports what is favorable. Tombong and
CO are yet to react to the news that the most recent self claimed Young west
African Journalists award to President Jammeh since it was proven to be
false. It is such things why the government's credibility is most of the time
questionable.
