Dear members of the the Gambia and related-issues mailing list I was watching CNN TV programs and I feel overwhelmed to experience who the entire world is peacefully joining in celebrating the event of passing over to the new millennium. It is as well a great experience to witness activities all over the world. It is amazing to see that every hour there is a climax as the time line is coming to a city with major importance. Concerning the activities there are cultural differences but for example for the music they do even play the same materials. Although the Year 2000 is rooted in the Christian system (all other religions perform a differnt counting systems all join in peace and harmony. I hope that this will be a sign that there is positive developments in the next millennium – peace, understanding that all people on this earth are equal and capable to share in joint activities. I think that this will be a millennium of new technologies like solar and other alternative powers, information technologies and services for the well being of people. This will give African countries a big chance. Now it is time and chance for Africa! The weakness in infrastructure will become a strength for non developed countries as soon new technologies arrive. As President Clinton just said: "This will be a century of globalisation, technologie and science." Lets hope for a good future My best wishes for the millenium to all from Germany Yours Angelika Prox Dampha ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
