Wow! I can REALLY relate to what you are all saying about variance in
insulin requirement. I've been diabetic for 30 years, insulin dependent, and
have had to forego gluten for about a year (should have done so before that).
I'm 60 years old now, but when I was younger I noticed I needed more or less
insulin to cover the same amount of food depending on the time in my
menstrual cycle, so I thought it had to do with hormonal changes. Now that
I'm no longer dealing with that, I still have times when my usual dose
combined with usual diet produces serious lows, or at other times, pretty
serious highs. I can't figure it out. I'll be seeing a new endocrinologist
early next month and hope he can shed some light on the problem. But I won't
be surprised if he doesn't. I've asked doctors before and got no sensible
answer. Usually they just suggest that I'm not keeping proper track of
things--NOT SO!
Hey, maybe it is a butterfly in Brazil!
