CHOMSKY Subscribers:

There has been a time change covering most of the US. Please update your
computer clocks to the correct time.

This will make sure that your e-mail will sort properly.

To check settings or make changes, go to the SMTP time zone setting in you
e-mail client.

This setting is only meaningful if you are not connected to a network
server that controls the networks clock.

You should enter your time zone in here expressed as a plus or minus
offset from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) or Universal time coordinated (UTC).

For example, the eastern time zone of the US is 5 hours behind of GMT, so
the proper value for this field would be -0500.

I use the program Atomic Clock Sync (2.6) utility. You can download it
free from: <http://www.worldtimeserver.com/>

This program connects to one of the time servers operated by the US
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and will set the
time of the clock in your computer with the atomic time-scale operated by
NIST.

This program has an option to run in automatic mode. When this option is
selected, it will connect to the atomic clock one (1) time per day and
will not try to attempt another 24 hours. If your system is not currently
connected to the Internet, it will attempt to make a connection at regular
intervals until a successful result is achieved, at which time it will not
make any further attempts until the next day.

The overall certainty in the time comparison should be +/- 1 to 2 seconds.

For users behind firewalls, you may find it useful to know that Port 13 is
used to connect to the NIST Atomic Clock servers. If this port is blocked,
it may prevent Atomic Clock Sync from receiving time information.

Thanks in advance,
