Hello all and a belated Happy New Year,

I'm posting this here since I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software problem.

I've run into a peculiar problem with using Bluetooth.

This is on a friend's computer that I'm in contact with.

Bluetooth dongle is Asus BT211 with Athero drivers

Headset (earpiece) is Plantronics M20

This happens on XP as well as on Win 7-32b.

Symptoms: When using VOIP, the audio in the ear piece is delayed,

so my friend hears speech as if the other party , me or another friend,

is speaking very slowly, at about half speed.

In addition the audio (voice) is modulated, having like a tremolo- or vibrato-like effect.

But here's the riddle:

PC sound, music or spoken word, to BT ear piece (via the USB BT dongle)

is fine and very clear and range is good ,about 30' or a little more.

Microphone is clear to PC and also to other party.

VOIP to PC wired headset is clear both ways.- send or receive.

VOIP is also clear via computer speakers.

* But using VOIP via BT causes the audio distortion in the BT earphone.

In addition a "walky-talky " effect takes place as well,

I.o.w. only 1 person can talk at one time, interruptions will not be heard.

From that I might conclude that BT is not duplex audio?

Has anybody come across this and what is the cause or the solution to this?

To reiterate:

PC audio to speakers - ok

PC audio to wired headset - ok

PC audio via USB BT dongle to BT headset(ear piece) - ok

VOIP audio to speakers - ok

VOIP audio to wired headset - ok

VOIP audio via USB BT dongle to BT headset - distorted.

So where's the hang-up ? Could the BT drivers be at fault?

Thanks for any ideas to solve this annoying problem.

Peter E.
