LibreOffice offers a moderate level of accessibility with screen readers. Writer, its word processor, works reasonably well. Calc, the spreadsheet, works reasonably well with JAWS although I've recently seen a serious regression in the way that cell coordinates are announced with NVDA which I plan to report. To be honest Microsoft's Office suite is going to provide the best level of accessibility with screen readers but LibreOffice will work.

I'm not sure on their current state of accessibility, but there's Libre Office and Google Docs.

Subject: [VICUG-L] alternative to MS office

Hi list,

What other options do we have for office products like excel and word?
My old version will not authorize on my new computer and I need a spreadsheet and word processor.

Thanks for your help.

Kevin
