Hi David,
     Another thought.  Concerning Buber's saying the "I" of I-Thou is
different from the "I" of I-It,  I think the best description of the "I" of I-
Thou and how to help the client achieve it is found in the books of J.F.T.
Bugental when he describes the "I-process" and how he helps the client to
discover it.  I think the only thing Buber would disagree with Bugental about
is his underestimation of the importance of relationship.  For that you have
to read the novels of Yalom.  Seems to me like the existentialists have the
best insights when it comes to understanding authenticity.
