Hello Gang
Fran - are you talking to yourself? All I see is your name. Sorry I have
been lurking, trouble with my email service and a naughtly computer.

My name is Deanna, and I live in Chicago Illinois. From my forbidden
signature (sorry gang, I need it for other mail), I put together a free
celiac/diabetic recipe exchange newsletter.

I started this long road of life filled with disease at age 11 with DH.
Unfortunately, I wasn't diagnosed correctly until about age 21. And then
all I was told to do is take dapsone. About age 28 I started with bowel
problems, but no one connected them with DH. Living with DH and not
knowing I was hurting my body my eating gluten, I developed thyroid
disease - ending with 2 operations to ultimately remove the entire
thyroid - and diabetes (diagnosed about 10 years ago). A little over 4
years ago I had to find a new dermatologist to refill my dapsone because
my dermatologist died (thank God for me!) and that's when I found out
about a gluten free diet. Since going gluten free, I am completely off
the dapsone, but like other diabetics, keeping those A1Cs in tight
control is tough and I have not been doing well. I am also experiencing
dawning for awhile. The MD says the only way to control dawning is
insulin, but I don't want to go back to that.

I have a 24 year old son and a 1 year old grandson. A second marriage
that is almost 3 years old. The grandson started on whole milk and
suddenly started diareahea (sp?) MD says it is a bug, we are hoping he
is not lactose intolerant. It is about the only thing this family does
have! My daughter in law is planning on doing a challenge in a few
weeks.

That's about all for me.

If there are 45 of us on the list, there are a lot of lurkers! Come on
everyone - join the fun. share your experiences.,

Deanna
