There is a thoughtful review of _The Fontana History of the Human Sciences_
by Roger Smith at the _Science as Culture _ web site.
http://www.human-nature.com/science-as-culture/crossley.html
Smith's book is the only comprehensive overview of the history of the human
sciences from ancient to modern times - a thousand pages of
carefully-researched scholarship by a fine scholar. He is also the author
of works on forensic psychiatry and the history of the concept of
inhibition.
The review is by Nick Crossley, Lecturer in Sociology, University of
Manchaster, and will appear in _Science as Culture_.
