The recent cyberconference on peer review in the social sciences (28 May
to 14 June) provided much food for thought. We received hits from people
in 35 countries on every continent. 70 considered responses were posted to
the original 30 topics, producing 100 statements on the problems and
possible solutions to peer review in the social sciences. We appreciate
the efforts of all who contributed to this effort.

Although the conference itself is now closed, you can download its
contents by going to the original website:

http://www.sciencecity.org.uk/cyberconference.html

There you will have the option of accessing the conference through either
Word 7.0 or a .pdf file readable by Adobe Acrobat (which you can also
download from the site). The conference is divided according to the 30
original topics to ease access. All of this material is usable for
research and publicity purposes, assuming proper acknowledgement of the
source.

This cyberconference was sponsored by the United Kingdom's Economic and
Social Research Council and conducted from the server at the Science
Policy Support Group, London. The texts framing the terms of this
cyberconference were written by Steve Fuller, Professor of Sociology,
University of Durham, UK. He is solely responsible for their content and

the technical side of the cyberconference, contact [log in to unmask]
