all of the units currently on the market are programmable ONLY via an
on-screen display, which I cannot read. Does anyone know of a unit which is
programmable by buttons (like my current "old" unit), or is operated by
voice commands?

(Java programs in a browser). Chucks "solution" is not. Java is for

That is simply untrue. Active Accessibility for Java will work in any
platform that supports Java.
