aloha, dan and everyone else who posted to the list on this topic!

1) please, in the future, address such inquiries slash complaints to the
listowner's eddress:
<[log in to unmask]>
and NOT to the list itself

2) MAELSTROM has been hit repeatedly by malicious spammers, as have several
other major listservers, with the result that emessages which would
otherwise be rejected by the listserver as spam are being distributed to
the list (as well as numerous other lists) due to address-spoofing (in this
case, the spoofed eddress is [log in to unmask]

3) the authorities at MAELSTROM are aware of this problem and are
assiduously working to correct slash rectify it, but for every attack that
is diffused, several more are launched

4) please bear with the listowners and the maintainers of MAELSTROM whilst
we attempt to correct the problem and bolster, even futher, MAELSTROM's
security -- please note, as well, that whilst you are receiving superfluous
"Your message to BLIND-DEV-Request..." emessages, they are (a) easily
deleted (b) easily filtered and (c) pale reflections of the actual
emessages, which are delivered to Blind-Dev-Request, many containing actual
viruses and trojan horses -- yes, receipt of unwanted email (especially
from a listserv) is a pain-in-the-pertinent-body-part, but hardly more than
an annoyance, and NOT a security threat to subscribers...

if anyone would like to discuss this issue further, PLEASE USE THE
[log in to unmask] eddress -- thank you, gregory j.
