Subject: Research

Can you help?

I have entered a scholarship in the travel industry. The emphasis is on
travellers with disabilities from overseas visiting New Zealand. My
research document focuses on blind and vision impaired travellers and must
identify issues such travellers have and draw up strategies to address
these issues.

I believe that the two major issues are:
* Information about a destination that is, New Zealand in accessible
formats
* information about travelling documents in accessible formats
* Mobility when one has arrived in the destination, especially when
travelling alone.

You may have some more problems you have experienced while travelling which
you may like to share with me.

My aim is to research via e-mail those blind or vision impaired persons who
wish to contribute their travelling experiences with me. Unfortunately I
don't have access to the Internet but I am hoping that someone will assist
me by asking some of their overseas blind friends to contact me so I can
e-mail them a set of questions to answer. I really would like to hear from
blind people who have or wish to travel to New Zealand.

I need to complete a 5,000 word essay by 27 Feb so as you will see I don't
have much time to do my research, especially as we are so close to
Christmas.

There is also some statistics which someone out there may have. I need to
know
* How many blind people it is estimated to be in the World
* How many of these blind people come from developed countries eg USA,
Canada, UK, etc
and how many from developing countries eg Africa, South America, etc.

I would also know if there is any accessible literature about blind
tourists and their experiences?

If anyone can help me please message me as soon as possible.

Please feel free to pass on my e-mail address to your blind friends
overseas if you think that they may help me.

My e-mail address is

Thanks for your help.

Best wishes,
Carolyn.
