This post is to the old list that has almost zero traffic.

To answer your Question:

I've never done FT8, but have done RTTY on a TS-2000 and TS-480, and 
RTTY and PSK on a TS590.   Baud rate isn't an issue, as long as Baud 
rate  is the same for both radio and pc.

The real data being  sent between radio and pc is the audio which would 
be on the ACC2 jack, or less desirable, the front mic jack.

I don't know if FT8 is different in this area.
