Hi -

We put our son on a gluten free diet at age 16 months after months of GI
symptoms and weight loss. His blood work was negative and we decided not to
do an endoscopy because he was so young and so underweight. Once he went
gluten free his GI symptoms resolved and he finally started to gain weight.
That was 2 years ago.

In September had an accidental exposure, eating a whole bag of crackers at
preschool and had no apparent initial reaction. Since then he has developed
a rash on his legs that our pediatrician said is excema but looks to me like
it could be dermatitis herptaformis. Does anyone know if a person's symptom
profile can change over time when exposed to gluten. We are going to do
blood work this week but I know that false negatives are common.

Thanks!
