Hello all. I will try to keep this brief. I would sincerely appreciate any help. I'm a bit lost right now.

My son is two years old. In January 2003 he was diagnosed with milk and egg (white and yolk) allergies. In May 2003 he was diagnosed by endoscopy with CD. We keep a gluten-, milk-, egg-, peanut-, tree nut-, shellfish-free house. All foods in the kitchen are on the gf list provided by the Celiac Sprue Association and I have read every label in the event of a manufacturing change.

10 days ago my son had a stool that was green and slimy looking. Almost as if it were covered in mucus. Its odor was very different from his usual stools. Since that time all his stools have been like that. Some float in the toilet, some are formed, others lose their shape once they hit the water, some are yellow or orange. They all stink. In the last 10 days only one of his stools has been "normal" for him (dark, firm, not covered in mucus). He's been a little crabby and not sleeping as well, either. And he's very gassy, too.

I initially thought this was a gluten hit. That perhaps I had bought something that was contaminated. But then he had a normal stool. Which was followed by five more days of messy, abnormal ones. So that doesn't make sense to me.

Before he was diagnosed he had watery diarrhea every time he pooped. So I assumed that if he were to accidentally ingest gluten that we'd see the watery diarrhea again. But that's not what I'm seeing so I'm not sure it's gluten that's causing his current problem.

Also, my son is at home with me full time. And there have been no parties, restaurants, family gatherings, or unusual visitors to our home in the past three weeks.

I'm wondering if there are veteran parents who can help me.

Is this a gluten hit?
If so, what's the fastest way to find the culprit?
What are the best foods for him now while he still has mucus-covered, loose, pale stools?
At what point do you say enough is enough and see the pediatric gi again?

Thanks a million for taking the time to read this and offer suggestions. My son will really appreciate it. If there are requests, I will post a summary.
