Psychoanalytic Studies is a refereed journal devoted to the=20
academic, scholarly discussion of the developing field of=20
psychoanalytic studies. The journal will cover all aspects of=20
psychoanalysis, its history and its institutions and the application=20
of psychoanalytic theory to a wide range of disciplines. These=20
include: history, cultural studies, film, literature, drama, critical=20
theory, anthropology, art, feminism, gender studies, biography and=20
autobiography, personality psychology, dynamic psychiatry, social=20
science, philosophy, methodology, and all subjects that include a=20
psychoanalytic (or, broadly speaking, psychodynamic) dimension.
Many existing journals in the disciplines listed above are=20
not particularly open to psychoanalytic approaches. Psychoanalytic=20
Studies is primarily for people actively involved in this new field=20
of study and aims to provide a focus and outlet for academic and=20
scholarly writings of this kind.
Psychoanalytic Studies is academic: not clinical, although=20
academic, historical and conceptual aspects of the clinic are=20
included. interdisciplinary: it embraces the wide range of topics=20
mentioned above. international: the journal's readership and=20
editorial board members reflect a broad international spread. In=20
addition, the journal aims to discuss geographical aspects of=20
psychoanalysis. pluralistic: it is anticipated that all schools of=20
psychoanalytic and psychodynamic thought will be represented, as well=20
as constructive criticism of these.
