Liza,  the part of your email that I would address is why people are
protesting the use of military actions against bin Laden.  It is my
understanding that the reason people are protesting is because they want
bin Laden and his cohorts to be found and brought to justice using
international courts of law.  This is a choice we have, we can find them
and try them for their crimes.  There is a justice system.  Dropping
bombs from the sky and terrifying huge populations of people is not our
only choice.  We have to look at what is served by this bombing besides
"getting bin Laden."  I question our government's agenda given our
history of foreign policy concerning the Middle East.  Those of us
protesting are not protecting bin Laden, we believe there are other
courses of action available besides further warfare which ultimately
will reduce our national security as we gain more enemies and kill more
people.
