I am a 21 year old white female, just diagnosed with a 2
centimeter papillary carcinoma of the thyroid.
My thyroid is functionin completely normally. There seems to be lots of
conflicting information regarding partial verses total thyroidectomy and
benefits verses harmful
effects of radio-iodine.
Also, I'd like to know if there is any way to find
out if the cancer has spread before the surgery (anyone heard of molecular
coincidence detection?). Finally...removal/biopsy of the lymph nodes. What
if they only biopsy them and they come back positive for cancer cells. Do I
get surgery AGAIN? Confused....ANY advice, personal experience... would
help. Thanks.
