Hi
Laurie here--I haven't posted in a while-didn't have anything to post, really :). But recently I had to go to the doctors for pretty bad female complaints and a very nice change happened.
Up until last month I had been taking .175 Synthroid and feeling awful. Truthfully, the side-effects of my medicine felt worse than the Hashimotos Thyroiditis. They were enormous fatigue, moodiness, significant forgetfulness, Auditory Processing Deficit increasing (I have APD, also known as listening comprehension deficit, which affects my ability to understand speech in minimal noise, understanding the right verbal pitch used by others, sequencing directions, poor memory), and of course my hair falling out-it got to the point repeatedly where I would simply go off my medication. I know this is not a good thing, but I couldn't take it. But when the female problems (bleeding) started, I had to go in to try to convince them to change my meds.
I live in Morenci, Arizona and saw Dr. Annette Hasten (her main office is in Safford, Arizona) and 5 minutes into the conversation she stated, "well, if you don't like the Synthroid, why don't we put you on Armor?" I could have kissed her! Eight years of struggling with pig-headed doctors resolved in five minutes by someone who believed me! It was great! And the reason she believed me, was because she has Hashimotos Thyroiditis too (antibodies attacking the thyroid-hypothyroidism)!
I feel great now! My APD is still there, but much less, I am not fatigued, and the bleeding has stopped. I was within 2 points of needing transfusions, so you can guess how relieved I feel about it!
Anyway, just wanted to share this triumph. I go back to her in another 2 weeks to have my dosage and thyroid levels checked, and I'll be smiling all the way in :) If you're in this area, Dr. Annette Hasten, Safford Arizona, Grahm County Community Hospital.
See you :)
Laurie
