I also have to take fairly high doses of T4 varying by the seasons. When my
doctor finally got my T3 back into the lower range of normal, my T4 dropped
to below normal. On my current dose of 200 mcg synthroid and 37.5 mcg of
cytomel, I feel pretty good during these winter months. I still may need to
kick up the cytomel a little more as I am experiencing severe tendonitis and
some numbness from carpel tunnel. The most anyone can do is to try as many
various ways of addressing their thyroid problem. What is good for me may
not be good for anyone else. It seems you need more supplementation of T4
because your body converts T4 to T3 well.

How did you do on straight synthroid?

One way to tell how your body is responding to your current meds is to have a
Reverse T3 test. I am producing some Reverse T3 but not a huge amount.
