Hello-
A friend is in her 35th week of pregnancy, and has had a problem with
gestational diabetes which has not under control even with shots of
insulin. The baby is huge, and the mom is miserable..she is sleepy all of the
time, doesn't have the energy to get up and do even simple household tasks.
She had some thyroid testing done, but the docs told her that they wouldn't
do anything about her thyroid until after the baby was delivered.
This mom has several children..her youngest(before this pregnancy)was born
with Down Syndrome. Thyroid disorders are fairly common in mothers of
children with DS.
Do you think that it would be worthwhile for her to get testing for
antibodies,or are the results listed below "normal" during pregnancy?
Test 5 /9.... 6/27....(Normal)
T3, Total 192.... 193......(60-181)
T3, Uptake 17.4... 17.7.....(27.8-40.7)
T4, Free, Calculated 1.1....1.0........(1.6-3.7)
T4, Free, Non-Dialysis 0.67...0.56.......(0.80-1.50 )
TSH 5.2....3.5........(0.4-5.9 )
Thank you,
KathyR
