I wanted to share some info about Mike Marlin, Manager of the California State Talking Book and Braille Library, who is running for ALA Council. He helped write the Resolution for Purchasing Accessible Electronic Resources that passed at Annual 2009. Having worked very closely with him on it, I got to know him and I can say he is a very forceful personal advocate for social justice. I strongly believe he would be a great person to have on Council!

He has worked in public, special and academic libraries in various roles and he now works as Manager of the California State Talking Book and Braille Library. He became blind in 1991, after becoming a librarian. He then learned to use assistive technologies to do his job. He is a current member of ASCLA, IRRT, SRRT, and a past member of EMIERT, LITA, and ALCTS. I'm attaching his candidate statement. Please feel free to share this with colleagues, listservs or other publications as you feel appropriate. I encourage ALA members to vote for him with me:)

Apologies for duplicating this on other listservs.
