Esteemed sir,

Is your Old West reference to a flat-topped parapet that essentially screens a gable roof, sorta like this
____             _____

| /  \ |            |    |    |
|/    \|            |    |    |

|___ |            |    |    |

or did you mean something else?

Ok ok ....I don't mean to muddy the water
but .I recently drove by a guy in the Delta  fabricating metal garden sheds;12x20
that had the upper facade curved and attatched like those in the old western towns;
 you know hiding the roof line  with a stand up decorative wooden wall
In the movies the saloon was basically a box yet it had this
decorative  wooden wall  above it
.....for what ?
 adverising snake oil and baudy enertainment ?
 however
In the western movies we see no advetisements;
 yet were they not  really just bill boards; or did the owner really want to pay
out of pocket for architectual decoration  to add to the character of his fledgling cow town
 in say Tombstone or Dodge ...need to know xoxPy .
