Yes, Macs were picky about that last I knew. However, if it doesn't work and your up for a challenge, you may be able to get it to work. There are a few Mac firmware mods, and one of them may contain more universal HD drivers. If you're really up for a challenge (or want to be called a "real man" by Linus Torvalds), you could take the source code for a firmware mod and ad your own driver to it.
