Mi dictionario Aurélio cita duo expressiones: "obra-mestra" e 
"obra-prima", le secunde del quales certemente es le plus popular.

"Obra-mestra" se traduce litteralmente in Interlingua como "obra maestra".

Le expression "obra-prima" se origina del idea que illo era le *prime 
obra* de un maestro. Le prime obra facite con le perfection necessari pro 
que ille sia considerate un ver maestro in le officio del arte.

Totevia "obra-prima" me pare un termino exclusivemente portugese.

Le existentia de "obra-mestra" reinfortia le acceptation de "obra 
maestral".
