UPDATE ON THE FATOU JAW MANNEH’S LEGAL FUND:
 
The GPU-USA in collaboration with the STGDP have so far raised over $4000.00 and wired $3000.00 for the settlement of the debt to pay the fine that prevented our colleague, Fatou Jaw Manneh, from spending four years in jail. Again, we thank everyone who contributed to this effort, and we are still appealing to all of you for your assistance as we strive to meet our committed target of $12,000.00.
 
In the interest of collecting the pledges and giving others time to make their donations, we have decided to move the targeted deadline from September 15, 2008 to the end of September. 
 
We would also like to take this opportunity to extend our commendation to the GDP, under leadership of Haruna Darboe, in his untiring commitment to this effort. We continue to urge all of you to stand up and be counted in our struggle against injustice. It is indeed in times like this that we all should send a resounding message to Jammeh that we are all together in our struggle against injustice and tyranny. Now is not the time to sit on the sideline and expect to see a better Gambia. It will take the unyielding effort from all of us to bring about change.
