*The president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Prof. Alh. Dr.
Yahya Jammeh, acting under the provisions of the constitution has
relieved Momodou Sabally as the minister of Presidential Affairs,
secretary general and head of the Civil Service and replaced him with
Abdoulie Sallah, former secretary to Cabinet effective, Tuesday, 1st
July, 2014, the Presidency announced yesterday.*


The full text of the release reads: "His Excellency the president of the
Republic of The Gambia Sheikh Prof. Alh Dr. Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh, acting
under the provisions of section 71(4) (b) of the constitution of the
Republic of The Gambia, has decided to relieve Mr. Momodou Sabally of
his Cabinet appointment as minister of Presidential Affairs, secretary
general and head of the Civil Service with effect from Tuesday 1st July
2014. In the same vein, His Excellency the president of the Republic of
The Gambia, Sheikh Professor Alh Dr. Yahya A.J.J Jammeh, acting under
the provision of sections 71(1) and 71(3) of the constitution of the
Republic of The Gambia has made the following appointments. Mr. Abdoulie
M. Sallah as minister of Presidential Affairs, secretary general and
head of the Civil Service with immediate effect and Mr. Momodou Sabally
as minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology with
effect from 1st July 2014".
