Thanx Dad for sharing. I noted the statements below because they were of
particular interest.
We are told that Alkalo Bah was not removed because of any shortcoming on
his part. We also understand that outgoing Alkalo Bah promises to stand firm
behind the President and the APRC, as he probably was BEFORE his
appointment as Alkalo.
Further, we are informed that new Alkalo Jatta issued a stern warning for
villagers and community residents to stay away from the President's land and
that he believed his appointment will bring more development to the
communities than Mr. Bah was able to. (I don't know why but that is what Alkalo
Jatta believes). Alkalo Jatta also promised to measure up to (the
President's) expectation.
My anxiety is twofold:
1. What is the difference between Alkalo Bah and Alkalo Jatta?
2. Why does the President expect Alkalo Jatta can bring more development to
the community than Alkalo Bah?
This is troubling.
Haruna.

He noted that he took everything in good faith and promised to continue
his hard work and dedication to the development of the country. He told this
reporter that he will continue to rally behind the president and the APRC
party at all times. Also speaking to this reporter, the newly appointed
"Alkalo", Lamin Mondo Jatta said his appointment took effect some two weeks
ago. He said he believed that his appointment as the village head would bring
more development and understanding to his people.
He told this reporter that his aim is to work with all categories of
people in his village to enable him to bring development to his people. He said
it should be the duty of every village head to unite his/her people for
meaningful development. The newly appointed Alkalo also called on his people
to pay compound rates without which he said development cannot be achieved.
He also called on all those who have plots of land at the President’s land
to keep away from the place, warning that anyone found interfering with
the president’s land in the area will be dealt with accordingly.
He also used the opportunity to thank the president for the trust and
confidence he bestowed on him; and further thanked the Governor of the Region
and the officials at the Ministry of Local Government and Lands. Alkalo Jatta
promised to measure up to expectation.
