Dear readers,

I now plead with you all to let personality conflict aside and focus on one
Africa. I thank you all so much and i hope this poem will serve that purpose
of bringing unity among us as we long for unseating Jammeh soon.

*The truth on the wall

O associates in struggle!
how about a unity bashing here?
that all may live to cherish
our only Ghandis, the Malcolms
and the kings of our small Gambia
whose efforts are all renowned
in their own small but noble ways
and only humans they are
you know with certainty of sight
the truth on the wall of this globe
that they all lived for this struggle
in their own little ways
when you and I ate the fine sandwiches
slept in big comfort beds
and rattling the computer keystrokes
with heavy hearts asunder
in America, London and elsewhere
taking the spears on their faces
and ourselves with useless sharp cuts
as we wallow in a world of fancy
and you know Halifa, Darboe and all
are all dreaming for a different Gambia
so how come you do not say-
Long live Halifa!
Long live Darboe!
Long live unity!
and long live all the true heroes!

O associates in struggle!
say no to the whisper of the devil
whose only wish is our division
resembing the groups in Somalia
who all called themselves Muslims
and at dawn time, they are brothers
before noon, they are tribal enemies
cutting the necks of their brothers at dawn
and if this is the Gambia, we long for
I am now embarrassed to be a Gambian
you should also feel the pain
and I would rather call myself an African
just so Africa of great fatherland
will not equate me with those useless sons
who destroyed hope and shattered unity
like the Jammehs, the Mugabes and the Taylors
so you all should now shake the hands
and bury the hatchet for a greater Africa
an Africa we all love and cherish
and that Africa we are all liberating
so you and I can hold the national flag
and singing our national anthem in chorus
so the colonial master doesnt laught at us
so long live Africa!
long live you and I!
long live unity and the struggle!
and long live Halifa, Darboe et al.
