To be sure Katim Touray said all of the right things here on this list. He
repeatedly condemned murders , tortures and abductions conducted by Yahya
Jammeh and his cronies. He was careful in his recent post to remind us that
he still stands by those sentiments . But what do they mean if his basic
position now is accomodation of a regime that continue to use wanton violence
and total disregard for the rule of law as an instrument of government.
Opposition to Yahya Jammeh and his government is not an ordinary political
dispute within a democratic sphere. I don't agree with the politics of
Halifah Sallah or Hamat Bah but I know for a fact that neither man views
murder and torture as a legitimate political instrument. Therein lies the
difference. Decent human beings can never deal with murderers no matter what
rationale is advanced. At the end of the day, it will take good people with
an unwavering committment to the truth to set our nation on the right path.
Karamba
