Mr. Goswell and Member of the Opposition:

While I commend you for your yahya sentiments, I totally disagree with your
tactics of violence. The Gambia cannot be another Sierra Leone or Liberia.
Our culture and our love for peace will one day rescue us from the evils of
jahanama yahya.

Our politics of denial in confronting vital strategic policies and
initiatives is allowing the dictator to continue on with his nonsense. It is
rather unfortunate that several members of the opposition have refused to
unite for the sake of democracy. We will cry and shout until we pass out,
but the Gambian dictator will continue to kill, maim and loot our treasury.
If we continue on with this trend, we will fail the Gambian people. Why are
we disfranchise in confronting the biggest threat to The Gambia's instability?

We must realize that this dictator has no interest in leaving the presidency,
especially when the opposition refuses to unite. Why are we negating the
very essence of our rights and allow the dictator to rule and divide us?
When are we going to put our resources together in helping or advocating for
a united opposition? Why are we making too much noise and are slow to form a
nonprofit organization in our individual cities, towns and villages to enable
us to summon the opposition leaders for a unification talk? The NRP, UDP and
PDOIS will come back to the drawing table when the dictator turns the table
on them in the next election. He will cheat and intimidate the opposition.
If we talk, we must be willing to put our money where our mouths are. We can
have only one president of the Gambia at one time. Our dreams to be
presidents must be forgotten for the sake of our country.

Time is the essence and if we continue the same trend, we are doom to fail.
A disfranchised opposition is a signal for more years of the Gambian
dictator. We must act in a clear unified voice. We must change our
attitudes. We must have a clearly defined strategy. The opposition is in
disarray. Please help us God.

Naphiyo,

Comrade ML Jassey-Conteh
