Mr Habib,
Your point is well noted, but I feel that you have still not grasped the
thrust of what I was trying to
say.I am sorry about that. I am going to give it another shot and hopefully
this time I'll succeed in making
you understand what I was trying to put across about the NCADC and Mr Cohen.

Mr Cohen is not by any means an executive member of the NCADC.There is no
executive body as such. There are regional coordinators only.
He is just another a volunteer like myself and many others.
He does not speak on behalf of the third world as such,(BONO of U2, STING,
BOB GELDOF and other musicians and celebrities
are who do that most of the time in the UK, like Drop The Debt concerts
etc). The the organisation is just
a charity that was brought about by the plight of immigrants in the UK.

The national co-coordinator is one John O, who resides in Birmingham. They
usually have
support (both financially and morally) from the British Socialist
Party, some British Trade and Student Unions(
this is how I got to know about them and also to join them in their most
selfless and valuable
services to the immigrant community). Last year it was lucky to be awarded
funding by
the National Lottery Fund . This is a fund that is generated through some of
the
extra cash generated through the bi-weekly national lottery in the UK, and
the trust gives out money to
organisations that they deem are doing good services to the society.

No one in the organisation is actually paid for the work they do. It is
basically
people who devote their time selflessly in helping others. Have some of them
got
hidden agendas?, that I cannot say, but human nature being what it is I
won't be surprised
one bit if that happens to be the case, but all in all they are a bunch of
nice genuine mostly
white British people who genuinely are touched by the plight of immigrants
and refugees and as such
devote their time and energy in helping them out.

Once again Mr Cohen does not speak for the third world, (as in fact most of
the refugees in the UK do not come from Africa or Asia
but from Eastern Europe, namely Kosovo, Albania etc.) he just uses his spare
time to help refugees and immigrants, and that
I think is quite honourable of him.

I hope I've succeeded in making you understand the work Mr Cohen and others
do, if not then let me know
and I shall send you some more details privately on the work NCADC does.

All the best
Manneh

  Dave

You are right . It is so sad that we in the so called third world have
folks like brother Cohen to speak on our behalf while we have the best and
most educated intellectuals amongst us.

If we do not tell our own story the way we see it and the way it actually
was who will do it for us ? and if they do why should we complain. It is
high time we start getting involved not only lip service nor photo opps.
Do I sound negative .? maybe but when will we wake up and take the bulls by
the horn as our late teachers Master Thomas and Mike Taurey used to tell us
(St Augustine's high sch)

Have a nice day and thanks again for the good articles you contribute
occasionally.

  Habib
