Saul, Joe, Jaiteh, Halifah and company: It is high time for the opposition
to unite against the dictatorship in The Gambia. We cannot achieve anything
if we continue to chastise each other because of differences of opinion. If
you are an opponent of dictator yahya, and sympathizes with the former Jawara
government, we as members of the opposition should find a common ground to
agree to disagree without being disagreeable. Sir Dawda had indicated on
numerous occasions that he had no interest in being president. We should
welcome him as a member in our fold.
One fundamental principle or doctrine we should uphold to, is an agreement
that dictator yahya jemus is the worst thing that ever happened to The
Gambia. We will be doing the dictatorship a favor if we continue to fight
and constantly condemn Sir Dawda. Dictator yahya jemus cares less about the
life of innocent Gambians. What kind of justice can any Gambia pinpoint
after the killings of Manneh and Dumbuya and the confinement of Sanneh? What
is the paranoia with the dictator of senselessly dismissing innocent
Gambians? Where did the dictator get that money to build a fortified million
dalasi mansion in Kaninlai? Who paid for the Lexus and numerous expensive
automobiles for the dictator's family? Why does Kaninlai have electricity
twenty four hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year? How can the
idiot dismiss his ministers for the ill-conceived promises he made to The
Gambian people? It is childish and out of reality for a person to promise
that he would electrify a country within a year. Brothers and sisters,
ladies and gentlemen, these are critical issues we should address. We should
collectively unite and engage in frontal attacks against the dictatorship.
Gambians are suffering day in and day out because of lack of leadership. Our
country's economy is in ruins. Consumer prices have increased ten-fold,
while the dictator his looting our treasury. Let us show some dignity. Let
us fight until the last soldier is kicked out of our state house. The
dictator acts without thinking. He his a disgrace to The Gambia.
Your enemy is my enemy, and therefore, I refrain from finding your
inconsistences. I would rather encourage members of the opposition to
continue on the struggle than chastising them. We will not be serving the
interest of The Gambia if we resort to negative political condemnation within
the opposition. Our responsibility is to defeat dictator yahya jemus and his
culprits.
Dictator yahya jemus, let my people go. Long live democracy and down with
the military and fascist government in The Gambia.
Your comrade,
Muhammad Lamine Jassey-Conteh: Greensboro, NC/Eastern Kombo District
