The president of the Republic has received more campaign materials ahead of
the November 24th Presidential Election. The latest institutions and

Jammeh and the ruling party are, the Association of Wood and Forest Users
Gambia; Ekun Baba Odeh Hunting Society in Banjul; and one Joseph Lee, who

The donated materials were received Wednesday at State House on behalf of
the Gambian leader by the vice president and minister of Women’s Affairs,
Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy.

Presenting the items, Modou Lamin Kinteh, a member of the Association of
Wood and Forest Users Gambia, said the move is part of their small token in
supporting President Jammeh ahead of the campaign. He pointed out that the
Gambian leader has championed many development initiatives in the country,
and thanked him for transforming the country.

Lamin Barrow, the chairman of the Association, thanked VP Njie-Saidy and
the Gambian leader for his numerous achievements in the socio-economic
development of the country. He informed the gathering that his Association
was established a year ago and since inception, they have engaged in many
development initiatives in a bid to preserve the environment.

He also explained that his Association’s goal is to control both forestry
products as well as safeguard and preserve the existing environmental
resources. He revealed that they currently have about 1500 members
countrywide.

Barrow used the opportunity to thank the president for his magnanimous
gesture extended to the families of the Kembujeh seven, who died in a
vehicle accident sometime this year, while assuring him of his
Association’s continuous support and loyalty to him at all times.

Kebba Sonko, the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Forestry and the
Environment, on behalf of his Ministry expressed similar sentiments. While
thanking the donors for the move, PS Sonko also commended VP Njie-Saidy and

Society, explained that the move was a way of reciprocating the Gambian
leader’s gesture extended to them during their 2010 festival.

He said: “We think it is prudent on us to give back by donating 2000
T-shirts as campaign materials. I want to express our utmost gratitude on

visiting the country since 1996.

foresight. Like other speakers, Mayor Colley described the move as timely,

used the opportunity to announce similar donations made through him, which
include a sum of D20,000 donated by one Boy Conteh. He added: “Elton Oil
also presented a sum of D150, 000 and I want to thank all these
institutions on behalf of the Gambian leader for their efforts.”

Gambian leader, for their generosity. She emphasised that their move
demonstrates their love for the ruling APRC and development in general. “I

APRC party and its leader,” she said.

She commended the Association of Wood and Forest Users for their proactive
stance in the preservation of the country’s flora, stressing that they have
been very active in the past with regards to environmental conservation.

She also called on people to preserve and conserve the environment, while

Gambian leader. “This forthcoming election is like voting for someone who
has done for all to see and the others who are just promising people. This
is what we will do when we get into office,” she stated.
