Kah's salary was once featured in Community of Gambian Scholars forum but guess what Ebrima Sall came into his defence. You can imagine this are so called Gambian intellectual s justifying such a fat salary. Ebrima Sall I know was researching about State of academic freedom in Gambia and never show what was wrong because of his stronger association with Muhammad Kah.

Professor Kah's salary is exorbitantly high for the Gambia.. I doubt event the University's annual budget is close to that. I still challenge my friends at Kiaro to provide more proof that the salary is that high. We know that Jammeh's salary is legally not that high neither is the Chief Justice. Why should the professor be paid that high. Are they including housing, stipend etc. Is this an annual salary or a contract say 5 years @3.5 Million? Just the number seems crazy high to me...

Thanks

The figure is 5.8 times less than Professor Kah's reported D3.5 Million annual salary.

Thanks for the rejoinder and sharing more about how the whole thing came to being. Yes, Foroyaa's piece was spot on in my opinion. I will search for the piece and will share it with you.

Happy weekend bro!

Yero
It when through the parliament as a bill even while me and you knows their function under the current rule is rubber stamp to create a retirement allowance for ex-president. The bill was enacted and becomes the law and I hope Foroyaa does a good journalism how the laws are make. Sir Dawda did not have influence or dictate laws when its comes annulment of ex-president. With his age and sll the related madness it was great for him to retire from politics and was the best of decision.

Last time I followed Foroyaa, DK is being paid monthly as a former head of state. I can't remember the exact amount but it is huge enough for the man to live comfortable in Banjul. I think such a package is well deserved for a head of state that acted or tried to act with responsibility while in tenure of office. My reservations continues to be his seeming "association" with Jammeh. I hope the monthly salary he receives doesn't translate that he have to be "cool" with Jammeh. I know others will argue that his amnesty package includes being "cool" with Jammeh. In anyway, thinking outside the box here, the man is in a hot and uncomfortable spot. I suspect deep down his heart he disagrees with what is going on, but he doesn't have the power and tool to remove it.

On a note, Kairaba despite the odds, weakenesses and the misfortunes of the defunct PPP was a man of many good traits. Happy 90th Kairaba!

Happy 90th birthday to former President Sir Dawda Jawara. May Allah continue to give him long life, good health and happiness. He is indeed a good human being with a compassionate heart.

Thanks

Karim,
Be civilized and stop flinging insults, otherwise no one will discuss with you here. Let us be mature and talk about issues and not throwing accusations and insults around, before you are dragged into court to defend them.

Jawara stayed in power for three decades until ousted in a coup and have participated in denying Gambian government positions just because they are opposition elements. He was a dictator by most accounts and Yaya Jammeh has been deploying Jawara's ways, the only difference being the use of arms. Jawara and his government had tortured kids as young as 14 and had participated in voters card buying, etc.

Thanks,
Kejau
