Thank you Cous Yero. PDOIS, Halifa, and the rest of us are best advised to heed your wise counsel.

Haruna.

Nice Vibes working on Kejau, Haruna. Like many of you, I too would like to weigh in on this mighty debate.

I read both DA's piece and that of our good friend Halifa. It is easy to see that Halifa was overly reacting to what is mildly criticism within standard.

On a correction note to DA, Mai was represented as he sent in a written tribute which was read to the audience even though he couldn't make it.

Back to Halifa, while him and his associates couldn't make it, there isn't any blame in my view. Halifa have 1 vote just like any of us, even though his presence no doubt is of paramount importance. The conference still went on without Halifa and we must be careful thinking that these matters lie on only certain political figures. We all equally matter.

All said and done, this is a healthy debate. It helps to show that there is a problem at home and even the enemy (Yaya) knows that the best is being done to resolve matters.

In my humble view, Halifa should have handled this one with the greatest caution. That is to say the reason why DA and many others are talking about his absence is because of the role he continues to play in Gambian politics. No one is asking why Waa Juwara, Ganji Touray and Rambo Bakau were not at the conference. To be called matters a lot even if your situation doesn't give you the chance to attend. Instead of overly defending like note, if I were him, I will just acknowledge, state reasons for the absence and probably look forward to another gathering.

The only point that is not clear to me still is whether Halifa really believes that the opposition needed to unite at home first before meeting the diaspora. I do respect that opinion however I hold a different view. My take is that the opposition weren't able to make it together with even the closest we came to making it.

Halifa, DA, and all, let us continue debating like the ancient greeks. Therein lies the solutions to our problems and that is what our struggle means.

Best,
Yero.

Ok Daffeh, that's too much.. information. We agree that UDP is the big and smart party.

Haruna, God also gave us brains to think and weigh issues by ourselves. Unfortunately, these PDOIS waifs rely on Halifa to do all that for them.

While its success no doubt can only be measured by its outcome both in the immediate and long term future, but the very fact that it succeeded in bringing together some people who hardly ever saw eye to eye on many issues to sit down for three days to talk about what should be done to bring about positive change in the Gambia, was a success on its own.
