Idiocy never ceases in Gambia. For a government that has a suffocating number of unresolved issues to burden itself with yet more criminality is beyond sane minded leadership. Why they create more work for themselves when they are not capable of completing any task is most pathetic. We are all behind the GPU in demanding the immediate and unconditional release of their coleagues. Haruna.

Subject: Alert: NIA Arrests GPU-Gambia Executive Members
Dear All,
Â
The GPU-USA has just received word from GPU-Gambia that senior members of their executive commitee were this morning arrested by the NIA. The arrests are apparently in connection with last week's GPU-Gambia press release criticizing Jammeh for saying that those who want to know who killed Deyda Hydara should go ask Deyda. Below is the text of the message received by GPU-USA this morning.
Â
Senior members of the Executive (Secretary General, Vice President, Treasurer) of the Gambia Press Union (excluding the President who is currently out of The Gambia) and Pap Saine, Publisher, Ebou Sawaneh, Editor of the Point Newspaper were this morning called for NIA (National Intelligence Agency) Questioning. They are still believed to be held for Questioning.Â
Â
The GPU-USA vehemently condemns this latest bullying of innocent journalists by the Jammeh regime and its thugs at the NIA. We call upon all well meanin
g and right thinking Gambians and friends of The Gambia to join us in condemining this latest outrage and in calling for the unconditional release of all those arrested.
Â
Signed on behalf of GPU-USA
Baba G. Jallow
Secretary General
